Sailor TestimonialsThe best additional benefit when buying the 500, apart from the spectacular sailing experience, is to be part of the enormously enthusiastic and fast-growing RS500 fleet in the Netherlands. When me (crew) and Willemijn (helm) bought the boat a year ago, we could not have hoped for a better group of competitors. The RS500 is our “quality time” in the weekends, since we recently started working in health care full-time. For myself, having never sailed a dinghy before, the experience of racing downwind in +25 knots is incredible. As Dutch Chairman, it’s great to be able to contribute to the vibe that the 500 brings to the Dutch sailing scene. All beginning is hard, but with such a spectacular boat and active class members, the Dutch RS500 Class is turning into a widely appreciated sailing class in the Netherlands.

My Winning Tip
Make time to practice away from racing. 1 hour focussed training can be worth 10 hours racing.
Keep a sailing diary and record what you learn - don't make the same mistake twice.
Sail the boat flat. The flatter you are the faster you go.
