Sailor TestimonialsThe best additional benefit when buying the 500, apart from the spectacular sailing experience, is to be part of the enormously enthusiastic and fast-growing RS500 fleet in the Netherlands. When me (crew) and Willemijn (helm) bought the boat a year ago, we could not have hoped for a better group of competitors. The RS500 is our “quality time” in the weekends, since we recently started working in health care full-time. For myself, having never sailed a dinghy before, the experience of racing downwind in +25 knots is incredible. As Dutch Chairman, it’s great to be able to contribute to the vibe that the 500 brings to the Dutch sailing scene. All beginning is hard, but with such a spectacular boat and active class members, the Dutch RS500 Class is turning into a widely appreciated sailing class in the Netherlands.

Champions ProfilePeter Barton & Heather Chipperfield - 2014 RS500 UK Champions
Peter & Heather teamed up in April 2013 with the exciting goal of a 'crash' course for Heather to master trapezing in the 4 months run up to the Swedish World Champs. That all went well and having podiumed at 2 World Champs and winning the 2014 UK Champs they are now looking forward to the World Champs in Holland in 2015.
My Winning Tip
Start well and sail fast. Let others make the mistakes. Never start a tack with the jib cleated. Be nice to your fellow competitors.
